What is apple cider vinegar?
The organic apple cider vinegar which we use in DIGEST START is the result of the alcoholic and subsequent acetous (vinegar-producing) fermentation of the juice of organic apples. The alcohol is converted to acetic acid by the microorganism Acetobacter aceti, which is also found in kombucha (a fermented, sweetened tea), giving the liquid its sour taste and smell.
What are the benefits of apple cider vinegar?
As Acetobacter aceti is a live bacteria, both apple cider vinegar and kombucha have probiotic qualities. Probiotics are the good gut bacteria that help our digestion to run smoothly and have an impact on how our entire body functions, such as our mood, skin health and immunity.
What is apple cider vinegar used for?
A traditional pantry staple, apple cider vinegar (or ACV) has been used for centuries for cooking, cleaning and as a medicinal remedy.
There are some claims that ACV is an effective hair rinse for shinier hair, can help to control blood sugar levels for diabetics, can soothe sore throats due to its antibacterial properties and can aid with weight loss due to its ability to improve satiety (feelings of fullness), however these claims need further research.
It’s important to remember that vinegar is an acid so be careful about too much experimentation as you could damage your skin, teeth or hair with high concentrations—always do your research first.

The Organic Apple Cider vinegar that we use in DIGEST START is not filtered nor pasteurized to preserve its fragile bio-ingredients and it is prepared in accordance with the best commercial practice under strict sanitary conditions and the Federal guidelines for Good Manufacturing Practices. It is free of clarifiers, preservatives or other impurities and is Kosher certified. It’s also certified organic by Quality Assurance International (QAI).
We blend it with burdock, dandelion, clove and licorice to boost its digestive prowess. Burdock and dandelion have been used as traditional digestive remedies for hundreds of years in both Eastern and Western medicine: the bitter taste of both these roots triggers our bitter taste receptors that stimulate our digestive juices and enzymes. Licorice Root has a long history of use as a stomach soothing ingredient, particularly in Ayurvedic medicine, while clove is thought to help settle the stomach and ease digestion as well as reduce nausea.
